Minor league report: Goaltender Filip Lindberg injured as Penguins win

Goals by defenseman Chris Bigras and forward Valtteri Puustinen gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 2-1 home win against the Charlotte Checkers at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Goaltender Filip Lindberg started the game for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (6-5-0-1) and made 27 saves on 28 shots but left after the second period due to an undisclosed ailment. He was replaced by Tommy Nappier who made 10 saves on 10 shots to record the victory which snapped a four-game losing streak for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Checkers on Saturday, 6:05 p.m.

Goaltender Alex D’Orio made 24 saves on 26 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-2 road win against the Toledo Walleye at the Huntingdon Center in Toledo, Ohio.

Forwards Shaw Boomhower, Jared Cockrell and Nick Hutinson each scored goals for Wheeling (4-3-0-0).

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Cincinnati Cyclones on Saturday, 7:10 p.m.
