Minor league report: Jonathan Gruden, Penguins beat Bears

A goal and two assists by forward Jonathan Gruden helped the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defeat the rival Hershey Bears, 3-1, at the Giant Center in Hershey on Tuesday.

Forward Kyle Olson scored two goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (21-21-2-3) while goaltender Tommy Nappier made 21 saves on 22 shots.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m.

Forward Patrick Watling had an overtime goal and two assists for the Wheeling Nailers in a 4-3 home win against the Reading Royals at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling.

Wheeling (27-18-1-0) also got two goals and two assists from forward Justin Almeida while forward Sam Houde contributed two assists. Goaltender Brody Claeys made 13 saves on 16 shots in the victory.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a home game against the Royals on Wednesday, 7:10 p.m.
