Goaltender Tommy Nappier made 27 saves on 29 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 2-1 home loss to the Kalamazoo Wings at Wesbanco in Wheeling, W.Va. on Friday.

Defensemen Chris Ortiz scored the only goal for Wheeling (25-32-5-0).

Highlights:

Before the game, the Nailers inducted former coach Peter Laviolette and forward Brock Woods into the team’s Hall of Fame.

Laviolette, currently the coach of the Washington Capitals, held the same position with the Nailers during the 1996-97, while Woods suited up for the then Wheeling Thunderbirds for parts of three seasons between 1993-94 and 1995-96.

The Nailers’ next game is a home game against the Reading Royals on Saturday, 7:10 p.m.
