Minor league report: Nailers eliminated by Admirals

The Wheeling Nailers’ season came to an end with a 5-2 loss to the Norfolk Admirals in Game 5 of a North Division semifinal series at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling.

Norfolk won the best-of-seven series, 4-1.

Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 21 saves on 24 shots in the defeat. Forwards Jack Beck and David Jankowski each scored goals for Wheeling.

Highlights:

Earlier in the day, Gauthier and fellow goaltender Sergei Murashov as well as forwards Gabe Klassen and Logan Pietila were assigned from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League to Wheeling.

The Admirals will face the Trois-Rivières Lions in the North Division final round.
