Minor league report: Nailers win 9th consecutive game

The Wheeling Nailers established a new season-high with their ninth consecutive victory, claiming an 8-5 win against the Fort Wayne Komets at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Wednesday.

Wheeling (43-16-3-3) previously won eight consecutive games between Oct. 26 and Nov. 15.

Forward Brayden Edwards scored two goals for the Nailers while forwards Connor Lockhart and Ryan McAllister each contributed a goal and three assists.

Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 28 saves on 33 shots, improving his record to 19-7-5.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Toledo Walleye on Saturday, 7:15 p.m.
