Minor league report: Nailers win North Division

The Wheeling Nailers clinched first place in the ECHL’s North Division with a 2-1 overtime win against the Reading Royals at Santander Arena in Reading on Sunday.

Forward Blake Bennett scored the winning goal at 6:03 of overtime.

Bennett and forward Ryan McAllister each had a goal and an assist for Wheeling (46-18-3-3).

Goaltender Gabriel D’Aigle made 38 saves on 39 shots, improving his record to 1-1-0.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Toledo Walleye on Friday, 7:15 p.m.
