Minor league report: P.O Joseph, Nathan Legare lead Penguins past Monsters

Defenseman P.O Joseph and forward Nathan Legare each had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 5-2 road win against the Cleveland Monsters at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland on Saturday.

Goaltender Alex D’Orio made 31 saves on 33 shots for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (16-17-1-3) while forwards Jordy Bellerive, Kyle Olson and Felix Robert all contributed goals.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Springfield Thunderbirds on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m.

A goal and two assists by Penguins forward prospect Justin Almeida led the Wheeling Nailers in a 7-2 road win against the Toledo Walleye at the Huntingdon Center in Toledo, Ohio.

Forward Tim Doherty scored two goals for Wheeling (20-17-1-0) while forward Nick Hutchison contributed a goal and two assists. Goaltender Brody Claeys made 30 saves on 32 shots in the victory.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Indy Fuel on Friday, 7:10 p.m.
