Minor league report: Penguins beat Phantoms in overtime

An overtime goal by forward Tim Schaller gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 2-1 home win against the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Forward Josh Currie recorded two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (9-11-3-2) while forward Anthony Angello scored a goal in regulation. Goaltender Alex D’Orio made 41 saves on 42 shots in the victory.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Binghamton Devils on Friday, 7 p.m.

The Wheeling Nailers home contest against the Indy Fuel at WesBanco Arena on Wednesday was postponed indefinitely due to what was termed as “ECHL health and covid-19 protocols.” No further details were provided.

The teams are scheduled to play in Fort Wayne, Ind. on Friday, 8 p.m.
