Minor league report: Penguins beaten by Bruins

Forward Rem Pitlick scored the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ lone goal in a 3-1 home loss to the Providence Bruins at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Goaltender Joel Blomqvist’s record fell to 3-2-0 after he made 21 saves on 23 shots for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (4-4-0-0).

Per the team’s radio broadcast, Penguins forwards Sam Poulin and Valtteri Puustinen as well as goaltender Garet Sparks were all scratched due to undisclosed injuries that were labeled as “week to week.”

Prior to the game, each team participated in a ceremony recognizing former Penguins forward Adam Johnson, who died as a result of a skate cut to his neck while playing in the United Kingdom on Saturday.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the rival Hershey Bears on Friday, 7:05 p.m.
