Goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 27 saves on 31 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-0 loss to the Charlotte Checkers at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Blomqvist’s record dropped to 4-3-0.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (13-7-1-0) was shut out for the third time this season.

Two goals by forward Matty De St. Phalle led the Wheeling Nailers to a 4-1 win against the Reading Royals at Santander Arena in Reading.

The Nailers extended their winning streak to 12 games, matching a franchise record since the club moved to Wheeling in 1992. The 2003-04 team initally established the mark and was matched by the 2023-24 team.

Forward Kyle Jackson had a goal and an assist for Wheeling (16-3-1-0) while forward Jordan Martel contributed three assists.

Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 28 saves on 29 shots, improving his record to 3-0-0.

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Royals on Saturday, 7:05 p.m.
