Minor league report: Penguins come back to beat Islanders

Defenseman Phil Kemp had two goals and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 5-3 comeback win against the Bridgeport Islanders at Mohegan Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Forwards Tristan Broz and Aidan McDonough, as well as defenseman Sebastian Aho, all had a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (11-3-1-0), which overcame a 2-0 deficit in the first period while forward Atley Calvert contributed two assists.

Goaltender Maxim Pavlenko made 23 saves on 26 shots and lifted his record to 3-1-0.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Springfield Thunderbirds on Saturday, 6:05 p.m.


Two goals and an assist by forward Mike Posma led the Wheeling Nailers to a 5-1 win against the Maine Mariners at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Defenseman Brent Johnson and Jordan Kaplan each recorded two assists for Wheeling (8-1-0-0), which has won seven consecutive games.

Goaltender Jake Smith stopped 26 of 27 shots as his record improved to 3-0-0.
