Minor league report: Penguins come back to remain undefeated

A goal and two assists by forward Danton Heinen helped the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins score six unanswered goals and stage a 6-3 comeback win against the Bridgeport Islanders at the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Conn., on Saturday.

Forwards Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Ville Koivunen and Sam Poulin all had a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (4-0-0-0) while forward Valtteri Puustinen contributed two assists.

Goaltender Sergei Murashov stopped 29 of 32 shots as his record was boosted to 3-0-0.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m.


Forwards Mike Posma and Cole Tymkins each had a goal and an assist for the Wheeling Nailers, who won their season opener, defeating the Cincinnati Cyclones, 5-3, at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati.

Defensemen Tommy Budnick and Daniel Laatsch as well as forward Logan Pietila each recorded two assists for Wheeling while goaltender Maxim Pavlenko made 27 saves on 30 shots in the victory.

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Maine Mariners on Oct. 25, 6 p.m.
