Minor league report: Penguins drop fifth straight

Forward Jordy Bellerive scored two goals for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 6-4 road loss to the Binghamton Devils at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton, N.Y. on Friday.

The Penguins (27-25-3-5) got a goal and an assist each from forwards Adam Johnson and Kevin Roy while forward Cole Cassels and defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph each recorded two assists. Goaltender Casey DeSmith made 37 saves for the Penguins who have lost five consecutive games.

The Penguins’ next game is at home against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, 7:05 p.m.

Goaltender Alex D’Orio made 35 saves for the Wheeling Nailers in a 4-2 road loss to the Kalamazoo Wings at the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Forwards Alex Butcher and Cam Brown each scored goals for the Nailers (24-29-5-0) who have lost six consecutive games.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is at home against the Reading Royals at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling on Tuesday, 10:45 p.m.
