Minor league report: Penguins edge Islanders

Forwards Drake Caggiula and Alex Nylander each had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 3-2 road win against the Bridgeport Islanders at Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Conn. on Saturday.

Goaltender Dustin Tokarski made 22 saves on 24 shots for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (19-13-2-3) while forward Tyler Sikora contributed two assists.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Utica Comets on Tuesday, 7 p.m.

Forward Carter Johnson scored each of the Wheeling Nailers’ goals in a 3-2 overtime road loss to the Kalamazoo Wings at the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Goaltender Bailey Brkin made 24 saves on 27 shots for Wheeling (17-16-4-0) which has lost four consecutive games.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Indy Fuel on Sunday, 3 p.m.
