Minor league report: Penguins edged by Senators

Forward Valtteri Puustinen scored the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ lone goal in a 2-1 home loss to the Belleville Senators at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Goaltender Tommy Nappier made 31 saves on 33 shots for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (18-19-2-3) which has lost three consecutive games.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, 7:05 p.m.

An overtime goal by defenseman Justin Almeida gave the Wheeling Nailers a 3-2 home win against the Atlanta Gladiators at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Forward Justin Almeida had a goal and an assist for Wheeling (24-18-1-0), which has won three consecutive games, while forward Sean Josling contributed two assists. Goaltender Broady Claeys made 22 saves on 24 shots in the victory.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Fort Wayne Komets on Saturday, 7:10 p.m.
