Minor league report: Penguins fall to Bears in Filip Larsson's return

Appearing in his first game since Jan. 15, goaltender Filip Larsson made 29 saves on 33 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-3 overtime loss to the rival Hershey Bears at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Sidelined for 10 games due to an undisclosed injury, Larsson saw his record slip to 7-4-2.

Forward Avery Hayes scored two goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (26-12-5-1) while linemate Rutger McGroarty recorded two assists.

With forward Jonathan Gruden sidelined due to an undisclosed injury, forward Mathias Laferrière made his Penguins debut. Opening the contest on the left wing of the fourth line, Laferrière recorded one shot.

Hershey forward Hendrix Lapierre scored the winning goal at 3:13 of overtime.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Sunday, 3:05 p.m.

Goaltender Sergei Murashov made 35 saves on 37 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-1 loss to the South Carolina Stingrays at North Charleston (S.C.) Coliseum.

The result dropped Murashov’s record to 15-4-1.

Forward David Jankowski scored the lone goal for Wheeling (30-13-2-0).

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Sunday, 3:05 p.m.
