Minor league report: Penguins fall to Checkers in shootout

Forward Alex Nylander had a goal and an assist in regulation for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 5-4 shootout road loss to the Charlotte Checkers at the Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C. on Monday.

Goaltender Dustin Tokarski made 36 saves on 40 shots in regulation and overtime then stopped three of four shots in the shootout for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (7-5-1-1) while forwards Jonathan Gruden, Filip Hallander and Drew O’Connor all contributed regulation goals.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Checkers on Wednesday, 7 p.m.
