Minor league report: Penguins, Filip Larsson shut out Crunch

Goaltender Filip Larsson made 31 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 2-0 win against the Syracuse Crunch at the Upstate Medical Arena at The Oncenter War Memorial in Syracuse, N.Y. on Friday.

Larsson improved his record to 9-4-3 while recording his fifth shutout of the season, tied for most in the American Hockey League.

Forwards Atley Calvert and Valtteri Puustinen each scored goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (29-14-6-1), which snapped a three-game losing streak (0-2-1).

Forward Joona Koppanen was scratched due to an undisclosed injury according to the team’s radio broadcast.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the rival Hershey Bears on Saturday, 7 p.m.


Goaltender Sergei Murashov made 25 saves on 26 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-1 win against the Adirondack Thunder at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

The result boosted Murashov’s record to 16-6-1.

Forward Chrystopher Collin had a goal and an assist for Wheeling (31-17-2-0) while defenseman Cole Cameron and Kyle Jackson each contributed a goal.

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Thunder on Saturday, 7:10 p.m.
