Minor league report: Penguins lose 5th consecutive game in overtime

Forward Joona Koppanen had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-3 overtime loss to the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms at Mohegan Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Defensemen Ryan Graves and Finn Harding each scored goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (36-14-6-2), which has lost a season-worst five consecutive games (0-2-3-0), while forward Tanner Howe contributed two assists.

Goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 21 saves on 25 shots as his record slipped to 10-5-4.

Phantoms forward Lane Pederson scored the winning goal while on a power play at 4:49 of the overtime period.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Phantoms on Sunday, 3:05 p.m.

A goal and an assist by forward Matty De St. Phalle led the Wheeling Nailers to a 4-2 win against the Adirondack Thunder at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Forward Logan Pietila recorded two assists for Wheeling (36-16-3-3) while forward Raivis Ansons, Matthew Quercia and Jack Works all contributed goals.

Goaltender Taylor Gauthier lifted his record to 14-7-5 after making 31 saves on 33 shots.
