Minor league report: Penguins’ losing streak reaches 3

Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 25 saves on 28 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-1 home loss to the Utica Comets at Mohegan Sun Arena in WIlkes-Barre on Saturday.

Defenseman Taylor Fedun scored the lone goal for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (23-26-4-5), which has lost three consecutive games and seven of its past eight contests.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Rochester Americans on Friday, 7:05 p.m.

Defenseman Chris Ortiz had a goal and two assists for the Wheeling Nailers in a 6-5 home loss to the Fort Wayne Komets at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Forward Cedric Desruisseaux scored two goals for Wheeling, while forwards Gianluca Esteves and forward Brooklyn Kalmikov each contributed a goal and an assist. Goaltender Brad Barone made 23 saves on 29 shots in the defeat which extended a losing streak for the Nailers to seven games.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Norfolk Admirals on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m.
