Minor league report: Penguins, Maxim Pavlenko shut out Comets
Goaltender Maxim Pavlenko made 20 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-0 shutout of the Utica Comets at Mohegan Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
The result was Pavlenko’s first career shutout in the American Hockey League and leveled his record on the season at 1-1-0.
Forward Sam Poulin had a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (9-3-1-0), which snapped a three-game losing streak (0-2-1-0) while forward Aaron Huglen recorded two assists.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Bridgeport Islanders on Wednesday, 10:30 a.m.
Goaltender Jaxon Castor made 23 saves on 24 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 2-1 victory against the Greensboro Gargoyles at First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C.
The result boosted Castor’s record to 2-0-0 as Wheeling (7-1-0-0) extended a winning streak to six games.
Defenseman Eric Parker and forward Zach Urdahl each scored goals for the Nailers while forward Mike Posma recorded two assists.
