Minor league report: Penguins, Sam Poulin beat Islanders

A goal and two assists by forward Sam Poulin led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 5-2 win against the Bridgeport Islanders at Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Conn on Sunday.

Linemate Matt Nieto had a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (38-16-6-1) while defenseman Sebastian Aho contributed three assists.

Goaltender Filip Larsson made 22 saves on 24 shots and improved his record to 11-8-3.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m.


Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 18 saves on 21 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-1 loss to the Indy Fuel at the Fishers (Ind.) Event Center.

The result dropped his record to 13-10-2.

Forward Jordan Martel scored the lone goal for Wheeling (36-22-3-1).

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday, 7:10 p.m.
