Minor league report: Penguins’ season ends with overtime loss in Game 2

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ season came to an end after a 5-4 overtime road loss to the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms in Game 2 of a first-round series at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

A goal by forward Jacob Gaucher at 2:11 of overtime secured victory for the Phantoms who won the best-of-three series, 2-0.

Forward Valtteri Puustinen had a goal and two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton while forward Radim Zohorna contributed two goals.

Goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 29 saves on 34 saves for the Penguins, who lost despite entering the third period with a 3-1 lead.

Highlights:

Note: Forward Marc Johnstone returned to the Penguins’ lineup. He had been sidelined since Feb. 3 due to an undisclosed injury.
