Minor league report: Penguins shut out by Crunch

Goaltender Sergei Murashov made 24 saves on 29 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 5-0 loss to the Syracuse Crunch at Mohegan Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

The result dropped Murashov’s record to 18-6-0.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (32-13-2-2) had a five-game winning streak snapped and was shut out for the second time this season.

Penguins forward Joona Koppanen returned to the lineup after missing seven games due to an undisclosed injury.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Cleveland Monsters on Sunday, 3:05 p.m.


A pair of goals by forward Zach Urdahl led the Wheeling Nailers to a 6-3 win against the Reading Royals at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Forward Matty De St. Phalle recorded three assists for Wheeling (30-13-2-2) while defensemen Scooter Brickey and Brent Johnson each contributed two assists.

Goaltender Maxim Pavlenko stopped 21 of 24 shots, improving his record to 12-8-0.

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Royals on Sunday, 4:10 p.m.
