Minor league report: Penguins shut out Thunderbirds
Goaltender Matt Jurusik made 28 saves and led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 6-0 home win against the Springfield Thunderbirds at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.
Signed to a professional tryout contract (PTO) on Friday, the 24-year-old Jurusik recorded a shutout in his American Hockey League (AHL) debut.
Defenseman P.O Joseph had a goal and two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (9-8-1-2) while defenseman Matt Bartkowski, a native of Mt. Lebanon, added a goal and an assist.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest agianst the rival Hershey Bears on Tuesday, 7:05 p.m.

Defenseman Josh Maniscalco scored the Wheeling Nailers’ only goal in a 4-1 home loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.
Goaltender Louis-Philip Guindon made 33 saves on 37 shots for Wheeling (11-8-1-0).
