Minor league report: Penguins snap losing streak
Forward Avery Hayes and Sam Poulin as well as defenseman Filip Kral each had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-3 win against the rival Hershey Bears at the Giant Center in Hershey on Sunday.
Snapping a three-game losing streak (0-1-1-1), Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (27-12-5-1) also got a pair of assists from forward Rutger McGroarty.
Goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 31 saves on 34 shots and boosted his record to 7-5-3.
Penguins forward Vasily Ponomarev was not in the lineup after being suspended one game for receiving a match penalty during a 4-3 overtime home loss to the Hershey Bears on Saturday.
The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday, 7 p.m.
Goaltender Jaxon Castor made 31 saves on 36 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 5-2 loss to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, S.C.
The result dropped Castor’s record to 4-3-1.
Forwards Kyle Jackson and Gabe Klassen each scored a goal for Wheeling (30-14-2-0).
