Minor league report: Penguins stymied by Senators

Despite a pair of goals by forward Emil Bemstrom, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins were defeated by the Belleville Senators, 4-3, at CAA Arena in Belleville, Ont. on Sunday.

Forward Avery Hayes had a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (20-9-3-0) which had a three-game winning streak halted while forward Boris Katchouk contributed two assists.

Goaltender Filip Larsson’s record fell to 7-4-1 after he made 29 saves on 33 shots.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Laval Rocket on Wednesday, 7 p.m.


Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 27 saves on 29 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 2-1 loss to the Worcester Railers at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

The result dropped Gauthier’s record to 6-4-0.

Forward Logan Pietila scored the lone goal for Wheeling (25-7-2-0).

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Railers on Saturday, 6:05 p.m.
