Minor league report: Sam Poulin leads Penguins past Senators

A pair of goals by forward Sam Poulin led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 6-1 rout of the Belleville Senators at CAA Arena in Belleville, Ont. on Friday.

Forward Avery Hayes had a goal and two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (20-8-3-0) while forward Rutger McGroarty recorded three assists.

Goaltender Joel Blomqvist stopped 39 of 40 shots and improved his record to 6-4-2.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Senators on Sunday, 3 p.m.


Two goals by forward Matthew Querica helped the Wheeling Nailers beat the Indy Fuel, 4-1, at the Fishers (Ind.) Event Center.

Defenseman Chris Ortiz recorded two assists for Wheeling (24-6-2-0) while goaltender Taylor Gauthier stopped 25 of 26 shots, boosting his record to 6-3-0.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Worcester Railers on Saturday, 7:10 p.m.
