Minus Fleury factor, fewer fans watching Stanley Cup Final in Pittsburgh market
The Pittsburgh market remains interested in the Stanley Cup Final, though not at the level it was a year ago when Marc-Andre Fleury was involved.
Pittsburgh was the fifth highest-rated market in the country for Game 2 between the Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night, delivering a 4.0 rating for NBC Sports Network.
Boston, St. Louis, Providence and Buffalo were the top four markets. The Blues won, 3-2 in overtime, to tie the series at one game apiece.
Pittsburgh was also the fifth highest-rated market for Game 2 between Fleury’s Vegas Golden Knights and the Washington Capitals last year, but it drew a 7.1 rating.
Nationally, Wednesday’s game drew a 2.56 rating. That’s down from last year’s 2.78 but ahead of the 2.46 recorded for Game 2 between Nashville and the Penguins two years ago.
