Members of the St. Louis Cardinals watch practice at Busch Stadium on Sunday, July 5, 2020.

Major League Baseball will announce its long-awaited, truncated 2020 schedule at 6 p.m. Monday on the league’s television network.

Teams will play a 60-game schedule, 40 games against division opponents and 20 against the corresponding division from the other league. In the case of the Pirates, that means 40 games against the NL Central and 20 against the AL Central.

The season is scheduled to end by Sept. 27 and be followed by a 10-team playoff.

The St. Louis Dispatch reported last week that the Pirates will open their season Friday, July 24 in St. Louis.
