Lydia DeFazio took Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference softball by storm this season.

The sophomore catcher and first baseman swung a hot bat from start to finish in the regular season and her proficiency earned her AMCC Player of the Year honors Wednesday.

DeFazio, a Penn-Trafford graduate, was a “triple crown” winner in the conference. She led in batting average (.491), home runs (9) and RBIs (44).

Even more impressive: She struck out once all season and had just one hitless game, during which she was plunked three times.

AMCC champion Mt. Aloysius (32-8) will open the NCAA Division III Tournament Friday against The College of New Jersey in Ewing, N.J.
