Oakmont assistant pro leads Tri-State PGA Falling Rock Classic
Oakmont Country Club assistant pro Chris Zumpano shot a 2-under par 70 on Monday to grab a three-shot lead at the Tri-State PGA Falling Rock Classic at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.
Zumpano, 32, lead Oakmont head pro Devin Gee and Saxonburg’s Joe Boros, who both shot a 1-over 73 on the Shepherd’s Rock course. Zumpano’s round included five birdies and three bogeys.
Tuesday’s final round will be contested on the Mystic Rock course.
There are six golfers tied for fourth place at 2-over. That group includes for Oakmont pro Bob Ford, Allegheny Country Club pro John Aber and Mt. Lebanon’s Kevin Shields.
Wexford’s Gene Walter, who won the first two Tri-State PGA tournaments of the season, is tied for 20th at 6-over.
