Duquesne coach Keith Dambrot received the first official commitment to his 2021-22 recruiting class Monday when Andy Barba, a 6-foot-6 forward from the International Sports (Ohio) Academy, signed his national letter of intent.

Barba verbally committed to the Dukes last month.

He attended Cleveland Benedictine High School before enrolling at ISA where he averaged 14 points per game last season playing a national schedule. He will compete as a postgraduate at ISA in 2020-21.

“Andy is a good fit for Duquesne,” Dambrot said in a statement. “He’s a model student and citizen who has worked very hard to become a complete player.

“He’s multi-dimensional on the offensive end with high-level shooting ability. He’s a true position-less player who can help us in many different areas. He’s also the definition of a gym rat with a great work ethic. We look forward to having him on campus.”

Barba shot 43% from the 3-point arc and more than 90% from the free throw line at ISA last season. He originally committed to Miami (Ohio) and had offers from Tulane, Texas A&M, Penn, Holy Cross and Kent State.
