Ohio State’s Luke Pletcher, a Latrobe graduate, listens to coaching staff after defeating Tim Rooney of Kent State in the 133-pound bout during the NCAA wrestling championships on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at PPG Paints Arena.

Latrobe native Luke Pletcher, a senior wrestler at Ohio State, is now ranked No. 1 at 141 pounds by InterMat Rankings.

Pletcher, who began the season ranked No. 3, leaped over preseason No. 1 Oklahoma sophomore Dom Demas and No. 2 Penn State junior Nick Lee after defeating Demas in the finals at the Michigan State Open on Saturday.

The Buckeye senior recorded two falls and two major decisions before defeating Demas, 2-1, in tiebreaker 1.

Pletcher is a three-time NCAA Division I qualifier and a two-time All-American, finishing fourth in 2018 and 2019. He was a four-time PIAA finalist and three-time PIAA champion.

Pletcher’s three-year record at Ohio State is 82-20.
