Dylan Cook has been in uniform for a pair of NFL regular-season games.

“No snaps yet,” Cook said Friday with a smile.

A good chance that changes Sunday for Cook. The Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday elevated Cook and veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling from the practice squad to the gameday roster for Sunday’s AFC North showdown at the Baltimore Ravens.

Cook was summoned because the Steelers lost a pair of offensive tackles over the past two weeks — starting left tackle Broderick Jones (neck) and former swing backup tackle Calvin Anderson (knee).

“‘Coach T’ (Mike Tomlin) kind of always tells us as P-squaders, ‘Don’t be patient,’ but just work while we wait (for an opportunity),” Cook said after Friday’s practice at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. “I’ve just been doing that all season. If my name’s called, if my number’s called, I’m ready to go for the whole season.”

Veteran Andrus Peat took over for Jones for the most recent game, a loss to the Buffalo Bills last week. He was the surprise pick over Anderson, who had been the gameday “swing tackle” backup all season to that point.

The debate became irrelevant when Anderson suffered a knee injury during practice this week.

Cook, meanwhile, spent all of the 2023 season on the Steelers’ 53-man roster. He dressed for two games but did not get onto the field. Then last year during training camp he suffered a foot injury and spent 2024 on injured reserve.

“Just being around the teammates and being around these guys, they just make it easy to just approach every day like it could be our last,” Cook said. “I knew just to keep working every day.”

Cook has been repping at both tackle spots throughout this season and preseason. Even if he does not get into the game on offense he figures to play on special teams during placekicks.
