With its final rounds thwarted by the coronavirus, the Presidents Athletic Conference declared winners of its team golf championships.

The women’s final round was set for April 18 at Chestnut Ridge in Blairsville and the men’s for April 25 at Oglebay Resort (W.Va.), but the spring season was wiped out by the pandemic.

As a result, the women’s title went to Westminster and the Washington & Jefferson men also were awarded a championship.

Thirty-six of the 54 holes in each tournament were played in the fall in Ohio. The women played at Avalon at Squaw Creek in Vienna, while the men played the first two rounds at Avalon Lakes.

Westminster won by 43 strokes over W&J in the women’s competition. The W&J men finished 13 ahead of Westminster for their league-leading 20th conference title.

Individual accolades also were awarded as the book officially was closed on the 2019-20 golf season.

The women’s player and newcomer of the year is freshman Kasey Clifford, who claimed medalist honors with a 166, including a 78 in Round 2.

Men’s player of the year and top newcomer honors went to freshman Colin Robinson of W&J, who posted rounds of 70 and 71 to take the individual title.

Coaches of the year were Westminster’s Matt Torrence (women) and W& J’s Matt Kluck (men).
