Palmer Jackson tees off on the 10th during the Trip-State PGA 2020 Frank B. Fuhrer Jr. Invitational Monday, June 29, 2020 at the Pittsburgh Field Club.

Palmer Jackson and Sean Knapp fell short of advancing to the United States Golf Association’s Amateur Match Play round of 64.

Tough Day 1 performances were too much for them to overcome Tuesday at Bandon Dunes Resort in Oregon.

Jackson, a Murrysville native and Notre Dame sophomore, followed 9-over-par 80 with a solid 4-over 75 in Round 2.

Knapp, an Oakmont resident, shot 2-over par 73 during Round 2 and finished 12-over. He was 10-over on Day 1. Knapp had two birdies.

The tournament will continue through Sunday at Bandon Dunes.
