Pat Narduzzi is putting his money to work where he works.

The third-longest tenured Pitt coach in more than 50 years, Narduzzi and his wife, Donna, have made a significant donation to his football program — a six-figure financial gift to the University of Pittsburgh’s Football Championship Fund.

The fund supports the program in areas of student-athlete development, facility improvement, technology and recruiting.

“I take great pride in wearing that Pitt Script on my chest each day as the University of Pittsburgh’s head football coach,” Narduzzi said in a statement. “This is an outstanding place with so many amazing people. Donna and I feel incredibly blessed to call Pitt our home.

“This gift is an expression of our thankfulness for the people of Pitt, especially the student-athletes we get to work with each day. Our responsibility is to give them the finest experiences possible — academically, athletically and personally.

“Donna and I feel truly honored and fortunate to be able to provide support for that mission at Pitt.”

Pitt athletic director Heather Lyke said the couple’s gift is “a wonderful reflection of their commitment to our student-athletes.”

“Pat is an extremely passionate coach, and his greatest passion is positively impacting our student-athletes and preparing them for success both now and into their futures.

“The Narduzzi’s gift helps ensure we have the resources needed for our student-athletes to achieve at the highest levels.”

The Narduzzi family previously made a significant contribution to the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Vaccine Research and its efforts to combat the virus that causes the disease covid-19.

Pat and Donna Narduzzi are members of the Script Society, an exclusive philanthropic group that provides financial support for Pitt student-athletes, the Pitt Band and spirit squads.

Hired in December 2014, Narduzzi is approaching his 32nd season as a college coach and seventh leading the Pitt program. He trails only Jock Sutherland (15, 1924-1938), Pop Warner (nine, 1915-1923), John Michelosen (11, 1955-1965) and Walt Harris (eight, 1997-2004) in years of service. His .553 winning percentage (42-34) is second to Dave Wannstedt in the past 31 years.
