Penguins forward Patric Hornqvist has been sidelined for six games due to an undisclosed injury.

Penguins forward Patric Hornqvist resumed practicing Sunday at PPG Paints Arena for the first time since he suffered an undisclosed injury Nov. 2.

Wearing a gray noncontact jersey, Hornqvist was a limited participant. Before practice, Hornqvist skated on his own.

“He’s making significant progress,” Sullivan said. “Obviously, the fact that he’s joining the team in a noncontact jersey is an indication of that. With the limited time I had an opportunity to watch him today — because we were spending a lot of time on our power play — I thought he looked pretty good. Obviously, the next step is full contact, and then it’s a return-to-play decision.”

Hornqvist, who is on injured reserve, has been sidelined for the past six games. In 14 games this season, he has 10 points (five goals, five assists).

Absent from practice was forward Nick Bjugstad. Injured in the second period of Friday’s 2-1 road loss to the New Jersey Devils, Bjugstad missed Saturday’s 6-1 home victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

There wasn’t much of an update on his status.

“Not yet,” Sullivan said. “Hopefully, we’ll have more information over the next 48 hours.”

Also absent from practice were forward Sidney Crosby (core muscle) and defenseman Kris Letang (undisclosed).

Follow the Penguins all season long.
