As the adage goes, “Sometimes you’re the bug and sometimes you’re the windshield.”
During the Super Bowl victory parade Wednesday for the Kansas City Chiefs, a fan found out how it felt to be the former.
Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes was tossing footballs in the crowd when an unsuspecting fan chasing the souvenir was cut down by a parking meter.
The star quarterback quickly checked on the flattened fan early Thursday.

LaRue Bell said he was no worse for wear, except for maybe his pride.
“I hit it pretty hard,” Bell told The Kansas City Star. “I took a professional NFL hit for that ball. That was my Super Bowl.”

Bell said the pass was meant for him but he was leveled by the stationary stanchion and another fan scooped up the bouncing ball.
“It hurt, but the laughs took over everything,” said Bell, who said he played football in high school. “I feel a little better than yesterday. That pole was not forgiving at all.”

An estimated 800,000 people braved wind chill temperatures in the teens to the victory parade that celebrated the Chiefs’ first Super Bowl victory in 50 years.
The Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV in Miami Gardens, Fla. on Sunday.
