Penguins activate forward Bryan Rust from injured reserve
The Pittsburgh Penguins activated forward Bryan Rust from injured reserve Friday and placed forward Cody Glass on injured reserve.
Those transactions were announced on one of the team’s social media accounts.
Rust suffered an undisclosed ailment during a 4-3 road loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 26 and has been sidelined for the past five games. On Oct. 29, coach Mike Sullivan indicated Rust would be sidelined on a “week-to-week” basis.
Typically deployed on the right wing of the top line and occasionally utilized on both special teams units, Rust has appeared in eight games this season and has scored four points (three goals, one assist) while averaging 19 minutes, 20 seconds of ice time per contest.
Glass suffered an undisclosed injury during a 5-1 road loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday. He did not record a shift past the 19:00 mark of the first period of that contest.
A regular presence among the team’s bottom-six forwards and penalty kill, Glass has played in 14 games this season and has recorded four assists while clocking an average of 11:48 of ice time per contest.
