The Pittsburgh Penguins activated forward Ryan Poehling from long-term injured reserve on Thursday.
Poehling has missed the past 15 games due to an undisclosed injury. Appearing in 38 games this season, Poehling has 11 points (five goals, six assists) while averaging 10:57 of ice time per contest.
Primarily deployed on the fourth line and penalty kill, the left-handed Poehling is expected to return to the lineup beginning with Thursday’s road game against the New York Rangers.
In a corresponding transaction, forward Alex Nylander’s status was changed from an emergency recall to a regular recall. Nylander has been on the NHL roster since being recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League Saturday.
On Wednesday, the Penguins placed defenseman Dmitry Kulikov on long-term injured reserve due to an undisclosed malady he suffered on Sunday. With that designation, Kulikov is not eligible to rejoin the active roster until a home game against the Minnesota Wild on April 6.
