Penguins announce roster for Prospect Challenge event

Penguins defenseman Owen Pickering was a first-round selection (No. 21 overall) in the 2022 NHL Draft.

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced their roster for the upcoming Prospect Challenge event in Buffalo.

Forwards — Tristan Broz, Atley Calvert, Jordan Charron, Kale Dach, Brayden Edwards, Max Graham, Avery Hayes, Travis Hayes, Ben Kindel, Gabe Klassen, Ville Koivunen, Ryan Miller, Nolan Renwick, Carter Sanderson

Defensemen — Quinn Beauchesne, Harrison Brunicke, Finn Harding, Daniel Laatsch, Brady Peddle, Owen Pickering, Emil Pieniniemi, Chase Pietila

Goaltenders — Gabriel D’Aigle, Sergei Murashov

Forwards Rutger McGroarty and Bill Zonnon as well as defenseman Peyton Kettles will not participate due to undisclosed injuries. President of hockey operations Kyle Dubas will provide statuses for those players prior to training camp.

This event is a series of scrimmages between prospects from five NHL teams. In addition to the Penguins and Sabres, the Boston Bruins, Columbus Blue Jackets and New Jersey Devils will participate.

All scrimmages will be played at the LECOM Harborcenter’s KeyBank Rink. The Penguins’ portion of the schedule:

Sept. 12 - vs. Bruins, 3:30 p.m.

Sept. 14 - vs. Blue Jackets, 3:30 p.m.

Sept. 15 - vs. Sabres, noon.
