Penguins announce training camp roster

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced the roster for their upcoming training camp.

While players are to report Wednesday, the first day of on-ice activities is Thursday at the team’s facility in Cranberry.

In total, 58 players are scheduled to participate: 33 forwards, 18 defensemen and seven goaltenders. Five players are listed as injured.

Forwards — Peter Abbandonato, Noel Acciari, Corey Andonovski, Jeff Carter, Sidney Crosby, Lars Eller, Matt Filipe, Jonathan Gruden, Dillon Hamaliuk, Avery Hayes, Vinnie Hinostroza, Sam Houde, Andreas Johnsson, Marc Johnstone, Jagger Joshua, Joona Koppanen, Evgeni Malkin, Matt Nieto, Alex Nylander, Drew O’Connor, Rem Pitlick, Sam Poulin, Valtteri Puustinen, Rickard Rakell, Austin Rueschhoff, Bryan Rust, Reilly Smith, Matthew Soto, Evan Vierling, Austin Wagner, Colin White, Brayden Yager, Radim Zohorna

Defensemen — Andre Anania, Isaac Belliveau, Taylor Fedun, Mark Friedman, Ryan Graves, Libor Hajek, P.O Joseph, Erik Karlsson, Justin Lee, Kris Letang, Xavier Ouellet, Marcus Pettersson, Mark Pysyk, Chad Ruhwedel, Dmitri Samorukov, Ryan Shea, Ty Smith, Jack St. Ivany

Goaltender — Joel Blomqvist, Taylor Gauthier, Magnus Hellberg, Tristan Jarry, Alex Nedeljkovic, Michael Simpson, Garret Sparks

Defensemen Will Butcher, Nolan Collins and Owen Pickering, as well as forwards Raivis Ansons and Jake Guentzel, are designated as injured.

Abbandonato, Hajek, Pysyk, Wagner and White are signed to professional tryout contracts.

Filipe, Hayes, Houde, Joshua, Lee, Rueschhoff, Samorukov, Sparks and Vierling are signed to American Hockey League contracts.

Anania, Simpson and Soto participated with the team in a rookie showcase event in Buffalo this past weekend as invitees.
