A look at how members of the Pittsburgh Penguins are performing in the Winter Olympics:
Penguins goaltender Arturs Silovs made 26 saves on 29 shots for Latvia in a 4-3 win against Germany during a preliminary round game at the Milano Rho Ice Hockey Arena in Milan.
It was the second game in the tournament for Silovs, whose record is now 1-0.
Latvia’s next game is against Denmark on Sunday, 1:10 p.m.
Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson recorded two secondary assists for Sweden, which concluded the preliminary round with a 5-3 win against Slovakia at the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena in Milan.
Opening the game on the right side of Sweden’s third pairing, Karlsson’s first assist came on the eventual game-winning goal by forward Elias Pettersson at 47:57 of the third period. His second assist was tallied on forward Lucas Raymond’s goal at 51:38 of the third period.
Karlsson logged 18:20 of ice time on 25 shifts and recorded four shots.
Penguins forward Rickard Rakell was held without a point. Opening play on the right wing of the fourth line, Rakell clocked 9:52 of ice time on 15 shifts and had one shot.
Sweden’s next game is to be determined.
