Penguins assign Angello, Lafferty to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
The Pittsburgh Penguins assigned rookie forwards Anthony Angello and Sam Lafferty to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
The transactions come after the Penguins boosted their NHL roster with the acquisitions of veteran forwards Patrick Marleau, Evan Rodrigues and Conor Sheary prior to the NHL’s trade deadline Monday.
Recalled Jan. 30, Angello, 23, has appeared in seven NHL games and has one goal. In 45 AHL games, Angello is the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ leading goal-scorer with 16 goals as well as 25 points.
Lafferty, a native of Hollidaysburg, has been recalled three times this season. In 46 games this seasons, Lafferty, 24, has 13 points (six goals, seven assists). In six AHL games, he has three goals.
Today’s assignments will keep Angello and Lafferty eligible for the AHL postseason.
