The Pittsburgh Penguins assigned defenseman Taylor Fedun to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL) Tuesday.

This transaction comes as defenseman Jeff Petry is set to return to the lineup after missing five games due to a suspected head injury.

Recalled under emergency conditions on March 20, Fedun has appeared in four NHL games this season and has no points while averaging 11:04 of ice time per contest.

Serving as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s captain for the past two seasons, the right-handed Fedun has played in 53 AHL games this season and has 10 points (three goals, seven assists).
