Penguins assign forward Alex Nylander to Wilke-Barre/Scranton
The Pittsburgh Penguins assigned forward Alex Nylander to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL) on Wednesday.
Recalled to the NHL roster Nov. 22, Nylander has appeared in three NHL games this season with no points while averaging 15:25 of ice time per contest.
At the AHL level, Nylander has played in 11 games this season and has scored eight points (five goals, three assists).
A right-handed shot, the 25-year-old Nylander is signed to a one-year contract that carries a salary cap hit of $775,000, the NHL minimum.
Notes: Defenseman Will Butcher cleared waivers. Due to an undisclosed ailment, he has been designated to the “injured non-roster” list since the season opened. … The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins assigned forward Jordan Frasca to the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers. Additionally, the AHL Penguins released forward Cedric Desruisseaux from his professional tryout contract (PTO).
