The Pittsburgh Penguins assigned forward Alex Nylander to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL) on Monday.
A healthy scratch for the past eight games, Nylander has appeared in six NHL games this season and has one assist while averaging 13:20 of ice time per contest.
The right-handed Nylander, 25, has been recalled to the NHL roster twice this season, most recently March 11.
Despite being on the NHL roster for most of March, Nylander is still the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ leading goal-scorer with 25. In total, he has 50 points in 54 AHL contests this season.
A pending restricted free agent this upcoming offseason, Nylander (6-foot-1, 192 pounds) is signed to a one-year, two-way contract that carries a salary cap hit of $750,000.
