In three games this season, Penguins forward Drew O’Connor has no points.

The Penguins assigned forward Drew O’Connor to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.

Initially recalled Oct. 31, the 24-year-old O’Connor has appeared in three NHL games this season and has no points while averaging 8 minutes, 32 seconds of ice time per contest.

In eight AHL games this season, the left-handed O’Connor has six points (two goals, four assists).

This transaction comes as the Penguins appear to be gaining healthy bodies among their forward ranks.

Teddy Blueger, typically the team’s fourth-line center, is eligible to be formally removed from long-term injured reserve. He has yet to play in a game this season because of an undisclosed injury he suffered during a training camp practice Sept. 28.

On Sunday, Blueger participated in a practice session in a full capacity.

Additionally, forwards Josh Archibald and Jeff Carter participated without any limitations during Sunday’s practice. Archibald was sidelined for Saturday’s 3-2 home loss to the Seattle Kraken because of an undisclosed ailment, and Carter has been absent for the past three games with an undisclosed injury.

Forward Ryan Poehling, who primarily has served as Blueger’s replacement on the fourth line this season, did not practice on Sunday because of an undisclosed illness.

Follow the Penguins all season long.
